Company History
Founded in 2003 by Eric Mandel and Jason Ford, BlackMesh is headquartered in Ashburn, Virginia, with data centers located in Virginia, Nevada, and Ontario. According to founder Eric Mandel, BlackMesh was created to "provide custom, personalized services" to enterprises he saw as being "ignored" by other providers.
In 2009, BlackMesh was awarded Best Managed Hosting Solution for customizable solutions and customer service, and named "One to Watch". That same year, BlackMesh launched its Optimized Drupal Hosting Platform solution, offering top-tier Drupal performance and scalability. BlackMesh specializes in managing the entire infrastructure to support the requirements of hosting Drupal sites.
In 2011, BlackMesh was involved with the Energy.gov website re-launch, providing the high-performance private cloud infrastructure underlying this solution.
In 2014, BlackMesh launched a new service to offer developers an automated environment to work and deploy multiple instances by leveraging OpenShift, and became a Premium Hosting Supporter of the Drupal Association.
At the 2014 DrupalCon in Austin, Dan Reif, Director of Engineering at BlackMesh, helped conduct a high performance Drupal training and is a current member, alongside Jason Ford, of the drupal.org infrastructure team. Also at that event, BlackMesh announced the pending availability of their FedRAMP-certified cloud environment to complement their existing FISMA offerings.
