Black & White Jacksons
Black & White Jacksons is an American indie-rock quartet that formed in the late Fall of 2006, and has been performing regularly in the Washington, DC area since April of 2007. Guitarist Tim George and drummer Zach O, who met at American University, had been experimenting with writing and recording together since 2002 in the hopes of congealing their various MusicAL IDeaS into a solid, multi-instrumental project. However, with a lack of other devoted musicians and an over-ambitious sensibility at the time, the project never came to fruition. In 2006, Zach met bassist/guitarist Lucas Oswalt who was also interested in doing music but had yet to find the appropriate outlet. Subsequently, the three discovered they meshed perfectly upon practicing together and agreed to focus on writing stripped-down but forceful guitar-driven rock songs. After recording their ideas and sifting through two or three vocalists, they fortuitously discovered vocalist, Michael Medlock (formerly of the DC band The Sentiment), who auditioned for the band and was quickly accepted, transforming the previous half-a-dozen songs written exclusively on INSTRUMENTS into an organic whole. The band has performed at various local venues including Rock and Roll Hotel, The Hosiery, Velvet Lounge, Solly's, 6th & I Synagoogue, The Party Pit, WMUC Radio and DC9. The band most recently released their long-awaited, self-titled EP to rave reviews.
