Biplab Majee

Biplab Majee' (Bengali: বিপ্লব মাজী) (born on 30 May 1947) is a leading Bengali poet . Born in Tamaluk in West Bengal (India), Majee is the son of Ananta Majee and Ma Bimala Majee ,the renowned leaders of Peasant Movement Peas in West Bengal, India.They were leaders of famous Tevaga Peasants’s Movement in the South of West Bengal in Midnapore District and they are Freedom Fighter of India against the British Colonist Rule.Majee has passed his graduation in Science from the University of Calcutta, 1971 . Teachers' Tranining Diploma in Russian Language from the Moscow State University, Moscow, USSR (At present Russia) 1976-77. Married to Nandita Bhattacharya,an M.A. in English and a translator cum Editor of Writers' Forum ,Prose Writer, Majee has a son named Debatanu.

Literary carrier

Majee’s first poem was published in Parichaya (When Poet Subhas Mukherjee was editor of this monthly Bengali magazine) in 1967. So far 12 books of poem, 16 books of prose and 5 books on translation, 5 books of Children literature are published in Bengali. And a book Love Poems and Others (2005) and Global Village( 2008)and Early Poems(january25,2009) are published in English translation. At present special interest on Post Modernism. He was a delegate in 4th Afro-Asian Writers’ Conference held in New Delhi,in 1970. And 4th International Writers’ Festival -India held in Ambala Canttonment,Haryana in 29-30 November2008and World Poetry Conference held in Kolkata on 24to 26 January,2009. Bachelors of Science from the University of Calcutta in 1971.He got Teachers’ Training Diploma in Russian Language from Moscow State University in 1976 -1977. Winner of Lenin Award from Moscow State University in 1977 and won an award for International Political Songs held in Moscow State University in 1977. Revisited Moscow in 1984 to participate in an International Russian Language Seminar for one and a half months. He edited and published Samay Sarani, a Literary and Cultural Magazine since 1981 to 2000. Edited Cine News, a Monthly bulletin of Midnapore Film Society more than 6 years and Pratibimba, an yearly magazine for more than 6 years. A columnist in local daily news paper Dainik Upatyaka. Contributor of articles and poems in a number of Journals and Magazines in West Bengal and Bangladesh .He was Director, PRAKASHANA, a publishing house since 1984 to 2006. Consulting editor of Who’s Who of American Biographical Institute and Honorary Re search Board Advisor of American Biographical Institute, USA. He was editor, Chalachittra Barta (Monthly Cine News), Midnapore Film Society, Midnapore from 2002 to 2006. President, Medinipur Kabita Utsab Committee since 2003 to 2008.
