Biomedical Engineering Research Centre, UPC

The CREB-UPC is the only biomedical engineering research centre in Catalonia. It belongs to the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. It is an interdisciplinary research center with aim of covering the demand R&D in the fields of biomedical engineering. The CREB is made up of a team of highly qualified researchers with proven professional experience. For more than fifteen years it has carried out important applied research work and technology transfer aimed at sectors involved in biomedical innovation. At present 80 professionals are employed at the Centre, of which 42 are doctors in engineering, physics and computers and 38 have bachelor's degrees.

Aims of the Centre

  • To set up a reference R&D centre within the biomedical field which is able to provide scientific and technological support to institutions and companies in the health sector.
  • To achieve close cooperation between the CREB, hospitals, industry and the public sector through the development of research projects and supplying different services.
  • To collaborate in the promotion of research and transfer technology in this multidisciplinary field, which ranges from basic areas of medical technology to clinical practice.
  • To provide support to training and education in the field of biomedical engineering.
  • To promote innovation in small and medium-sized companies through technology transfer.
  • To make optimal use of available resources to maximize the quality of the services supplied by the Centre.
  • To maintain a quality management system that encourages continuous improvement of the Centre and ensures levels of excellence in its services.
