Binyam Belete

Binyam Belete or Ato Binyam Belete is an Ethiopian charity worker and social entrepreneur, who helps elderly and mentally ill people of Ethiopia.

Key activities

Belete is founder and executive director of the Macedonians Humanitarian Association. It refers to itself as an indigenous non-governmental, nonprofit, and independent organization, founded on 7 January 2010. Belete has appeared on several Ethiopian TV shows and is widely acclaimed for taking care of the elderly and the mentally disabled who have no access to health care or any palliative care during their old age.

In recognition of his humanitarian activities, the public Bahir Dar University conferred an honorary doctorate degree to Ato Binyam Belete on June 24, 2017.
