Bhuiyar Dharmshala
Bhuiyar / Kori Dharmshala (Hindi: भुइयार / कोरी धर्मशाला) (other Name: Shri Kabir Ashram Dharmarth Trust Samiti (Regd.)) is a dharamshala in the holy city of Haridwar in the Uttarakhand state of India. The dharmshala is situated near Rishikul Ayurvedic College Haridwar.
History
In 1950, by five individuals of Bhuiyar samaj was bought a plot of 1605 square feet for making the Kabir Ashram in Devpura Haridwar, there was built a room and veranda in this plot and was nominated Mahant Birbal Das as a Mahant in the Ashram. The Ashram’s work was running smoothly by Mahant Birbal Das, that in the meantime Mahant Birbal Das was died. After him Mahanta Ranjit Das was nominated to take care of the Kabir Ashram. From 1976 to 1980, Mahant Bhagwan Das was nominated to care the Ashram. In 1980, society has formed with a social Body of the Ashram, whose name was “Gaddi Kabir Saheb”. As its chairman, Shri Lotiram Ji (Saharanpur) and Mahant Ratan Das Ji was nominated as manager. His tenure was from 1980 to 1982. In 1982, Pradhan Molhad Singh was nominated as chairman of the Ashram. His tenure was from 1982 to 1984. In 1984, Shri Jagpal Singh (Jwalapur) was nominated as a chairman of the Ashram. His tenure was from 1984 to 1986.
In 1986, Shri Suraj Singh (Bijnor) and Shri Natha Singh (Haridwar) formed another Social Body to mislead the Bhuiyar / Kori society, Whose name was “Kabirpanthi Ashram Evam Dharmshala Vyavastha Sabha Haridwar”. Shri Suraj Singh (Bijnor) and Shri Sita Ram Nangal (Bijnor) was self declared as chairman and Mahant accordingly of the Ashram. In 1986, after the Kumbh Mela these three people have sold two-third part of the land of the Ashram. Which was in our possession since 1950, but was disputed in the court? In this part of the Ashram a grave was of the Mahant Birbal Das. This grave was destroyed by these three people. And two shops were given on hire also. Gradually shops occupied by tenant of the Ashram. Time to time by individuals of the society has created pressure on tenant to vacant the shop, from time to time people of the society continued to clash with the tenant. After this event it has caused distrust in society, the Ashram was remained uncared in this time.
In 2005, when some naughty people of the society conspired to sell the rest land of the Ashram, but some aware people of the society to expose the plot, and then built a trust. Whose name was put “Shri Kabir Ashram Dharmarth Trust Samiti (Regd.)”. The Trust was registered from Tehsil Haridwar and Chit Fund Society Dehradun. Whose chairman was nominated Mr. Kailash Chand Ranimajara (Haridwar). Then in September 2007, the land of the Ashram has been registered in the name of Trust.
After Trust forming, the Ashram operations were running smoothly, And every year the birthday of Sri Kabir Saheb Ji on Jyeshth Purnima was celebrated with great pomp by the Bhuiyar / Kori Samaj. In this order, 18 June 2008 on the occasion of the birthday of Shri Kabir Saheb Ji a procession was taking by the Bhuiyar / Kori Samaj. As the procession of the Bhuiyar / Kori people arrived at the Ashram, during this time the tenant started fighting with the Bhuiyar / Kori people in the Ashram. In procession panicked because of the fights, and the police reached the spot. Because of this fighting twelve people of Bhuiyar / kori society have gone to jail. Ultimately the Ashram was evacuated by tenant occupying free. The election of Trust has taken place on due time in 2009, resulting Shri Jai Singh S/o Late Shri Lotiram Ji (Saharanpur) was nominated as a chairman by the society.
In 2010, a meeting of Trust was called, during the meeting it was decided, that the old building of the Ashram should be destroyed and new building to be built in its place. April 28, 2010 the five members of the Trust, respectively Dayaram Singh Bhamra, Mr. Jai Singh, Mr. Murari Lal, Mr. Karan Pal Singh and Mr Nakaliram Bhagat had laid the foundation stone of the new building of Kabir Ashram. In May 2010, removing the old building of the Ashram by the Trust, and a new double -storey building was made on its place. The board of trustees was donated up to two lakh rupees to the Trust for the construction of new building. According to the membership register of the Trust, up to October 2011 there are 205 lifelong members. As per Trust Rules, Only lifelong members can participate in the election of the Trust, and the person of Bhuiyar and Kori Samaj can participate only in the Kabir Ashram, any other person belong to other society or community cannot participate in the Kabir Ashram.
Significance
The Bhuiyar Dharmshala is one of the most ancient Dharmshala of Haridwar. Thousands of pilgrims flock of Bhuiyar Samaj come to the Dharmshala, especially during the festival of “Kabir Prakatotsav” (कबीर प्रकटोत्सव) on "Jayeshtha Purnima" (ज्येष्ठ पूर्णिमा) every year.
All people in large numbers gather in Bhuiyar Dharamsala, and celebrate the birthday of Sant Kabir Saheb Ji on “Jayeshtha Purnima” ever year. Bhuiyar People is organize a procession this day, Which is rotated all over the city. The procession is being held from many years. After the procession the society flag is flown by society. Many Sadhusant And Mahatma participate in procession also.
