Beverley Lyons
Beverley Lyons is a Scottish showbiz journalist and broadcaster.
She was born in Glasgow, the daughter of Radio producer Ben Lyons, and promoter Louise nee Rosenthal and has one sister Yvette who is a producer with Yorkshire Television.
Beverley writes two pages daily of showbiz called "The Razz" in the Scottish Daily Record newspaper. She has also worked with Radio Scotland, Radio Clyde,Beat 106 (now XFM), and Q96 giving entertainment and clubbing news.
Following a stand up comedy stint which saw her perform in Glasgow and Edinburgh, Beverley became a weekly host on BBC's Famous For Five Minutes alongside comedians Craig Hill and Frankie Boyle.
She edited the controversial award winning Alive Magazines One, Two and Three for the Greater Glasgow Healthboard and the Gorbals and Oaklands Health project and was sole editor for OKTV magazine for Grampian and Scottish TV.
VOICE She is a LAMDA certificated actor and voiceover artist who provided voiceover to programmes like Little Thrill Seekers, adverts including The Scottish Chill Out Album, Julienne Taylor's album Music Garden and Irn Bru carnival.
Lyons has also recorded professionally as a singer. Her singing voice can be heard in Clubscene's Heart of Glass under her pseudonym Cupid and she sings jazz at venues in Scotland.
TELEVISION She has presented on television for STV, ITV, Channel 4 and BBC Three alongside corporate videos like the Four Cities Television South West Arts Project.
Her television appearances include STV's Square Meals where she was resident food taster, ITV's the Big E where she was Scottish correspondent, a brief slot on Channel 4's Watch This Space and BBC Three's The Flyer late night discussion show.
ACTING Beverley has just completed acting work on Scots children's short film 'Screwbelly' and introduces the Bay City Rollers Documentary (currently in production).
INTERNET Beverley is also an accomplished Internet journalist and has worked as a webwriter and consultant on a variety of websites for the Department Of Trade and Industry and Scottish Enterprise. She wrote SE's official website for broadband in Scotland and electronic payment systems and was web editor of clubfunky.com, onlykismet.com and vineorganic.co.uk
During her career, Beverley has rubbed shoulders with everyone from Bill Clinton, James Brown, Noel Gallagher, Gwen Stefani, Beyonce, Cab Calloway, Robbie Williams, and Tony Bennett to Scots stars like Sir Sean Connery, James McAvoy, Paolo Nutini, KT Tunstall and Shirley Manson.
