Berle Sanford Rosenberg

Berle Sanford Rosenberg is an American operatic tenor and vocal coach.

He was born in New York City, and began his vocal studies with Alfredo Salmaggi, Tenor Giovanni Consiglio and former leading Spanish Soprano Carolina Segrera. He was also influensed by his collaboration with the great Italian Baritone and vocal pedagogue Tito Gobbi and later on in Italy Rosenberg had the good fortune to work with the legendary Italian Tenor Giuseppe Di Stefano

Later, while under the tutelage of Madame Rita Patanè, he had the good fortune to be heard by the "Legendary Italian Tenor" Carlo Bergonzi, who immediately recognized his talent. Thus, began a three year collaboration between maestro and protégé focusing on "Bel Canto" vocal technique.

In 1984 Rosenberg came to Europe and studied operatic repertoire with musicians as: Giuseppe Morelli and Rolando Nicolosi, of Teatro del' Opera Rome, Mario Braggio of Teatro Reggio, Torino, and in Milano with such notable maestri as: Michelangelo Veltri, Eduardo Müller, Sergiu Commissiona, Donato Renzetti, Moshe Atzmon, Antonio Tonini and Adalberto Tonini, Vincenzo Scalera and Dante Mazzola of La Scala.

Rosenberg has sung in most of the major Italian cities, including: Milano, Verona, Bergamo, Brescia, Piacenza, Parma, Firenze, Catania, Palermo, Enna, Siracusa, Pavia, Torino, Bologna, Venezia and Roma. He has participated in many international festivals, among those of: Assisi, Fiesole, Val de Charente, Metz, Budapest, Wraclaw Cantans, Oradea, Timisoara, Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Minsk and the summer festivals of Bolzano and Vienna.

In Italy, Rosenberg performed for RAI television in various concert and opera productions, eg. Petite Messa Solennelle, Piacenza, Rigoletto, Conservatory G. Verdi, Milano, Centennial Birthday Concert for Beniamino Gigli, Recanati and the Christmas Concert 1991 with Dame Joan Sutherland and Mo. Richard Bonynge, Enna, Sicily.

In September 1985 Berle was invited to perform at the Jussi Björling Memorial Concert held in Stockholm, Sweden. Anna Lisa Björling, wife to the late Tenor, was so impressed with his singing that she asked him to come back on many occasions. Thus began Mr. Rosenberg's life long connection with Sweden.

Berle Sanford Rosenberg has performed in opera houses in Switzerland, France, United States, Italy, Austria, Germany, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and the former Soviet Union, and has recorded two solo recitals released on CD by Olympia of London.

Due to a critical illness which began in February 1992, Berle had to be hospitalized for more than one year, and remained in convalescence until late 1994. It was then, that he decided to actively dedicate his time teaching the "Bel Canto" vocal technique and returned to his beloved Sweden. Soon after he was employed as a vocal pedagogue at Ersta Sköndal University. Berle enjoys an ongoing success teaching and is holding master classes on a regular basis.
