Ben Shutron

Ben Shutron (born June 14, 1988 in Orleans, Ontario) is a Canadian ice hockey defenseman. He was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 4th round, 95th overall, in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

Kingston Frontenacs

The Kingston Frontenacs drafted Shutron in the 1st round, 9th overall pick, in the 2004 OHL Priority Selection from the Richmond Hill Stars. Shutron had a solid rookie season with the Frontenacs, leading the team defense in scoring with 7 goals and 27 points, and was named to the Second All Rookie OHL team.

Shutron improved his play in 2005-06, leading the Frontenacs blueline once again with 10 goals and 39 points in 67 games, helping Kingston make the playoffs for the first time in his career. Shutron would add 2 assists in 6 playoff games.

In 2006-07, Shutron saw his goal scoring production cut in half, from 10 goals to 5, however, he would be among the team leaders with 42 assists, and lead the defense once again, with 47 points. The Frontenacs qualified for the playoffs once again, and in 5 post-season games, Shutron would score his 1st career playoff goal, and add 3 assists.

Injuries would hamper Shutron in 2007-08, as he would record only 4 assists in 13 games before he was forced out of the lineup due to a bad back. Ben would not return to the Frontenacs lineup, as on January 4, 2008, he was dealt to the Kitchener Rangers for goaltender Maveric Parks.

Kitchener Rangers

Shutron was traded to the Rangers, however, he is still injured, and has not yet seen any action with the club.
