Bedri Gashi
Gashi is a Albanian footballer currently playing for the Vancouver WhiteCaps, a new MLS expansion team. Gashi's first position is midfielder where he can play both right or left sides.
Switzerland
After starting his soccer career with Lausanne's FC La Sallaz, a 14-year-old Gashi joined the youth set-up at FC Lausanne-Sport, who currently play in Switzerland's second-tier Challenge League. From 2006 to 2010, the midfielder played for the club's U-15 and U-16 squads (known as Team Lausanne-Vaud) and Lausanne-Sport's U-18 and U-21 sides (known as Team Vaud). During the 2005-06 season, Gashi led Team Lausanne-Vaud U-15's to a Swiss Junior League championship title, as well as the 2006 Winterthur tournament title in Winterthur, Switzerland. As a member of Team Vaud U-18's, the midfielder won the 2010 U-19 Yokohama Cup tournament title in Ostrach, Germany. At the Yokohama Cup, Gashi faced U-19 sides from Germany's VfL Bochum, Denmark's FC Copenhagen, Austria's SK Rapid Vienna, and Czech Republic outfit FC Viktoria Pilsen.

Gashi started his soccer career as a six-year-old when he joined FC La Sallaz shortly following his move to Lausanne, Switzerland, in 1999. The midfielder spent seven years with La Sallaz before moving to the youth set-up at FC Lausanne-Sport in 2006.

Born in Pristina, Kosovo, Gashi and his family moved to Zürich, Switzerland, in 1998 following political tension in the Balkan region. A year later, the midfielder and his family settled in Lausanne, Switzerland. A Swiss citizen of Albanian origin, Gashi was a student at l'Ecole professionnelle commerciale de Lausanne and Collège de Béthusy in his hometown. His parents are Lutfije and Vehbi Gashi, while he has two brothers named Arsim and Arben.
