Beatrice Mensah-Tayui
Beatrice Mensah Tayui is a Ghanaian businesswoman and philanthropist. She is the founder and CEO of Cybele Energy Global and Cybele Energy Ghana Limited, the first African-owned company in South America to have been granted offshore petroleum acreage, according to Business and Financial Times. Her work in promoting international trade relations, diaspora engagement and youth empowerment projects in the USA and Africa has won her recognition.
Early life and education
She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Business Administration from Roosevelt University in Chicago, USA.
Early career
Before founding her own energy company, Tayui worked in senior management roles with several Fortune 500 pharmaceutical companies, including Pfizer, Hoffmann-La Roche, and Johnson & Johnson. She is recognized for her experience in corporate leadership, business strategy, and International Operations.
Cybele Energy
Tayui established Cybele Energy Global and Cybele Energy Ghana Limited for opportunities in the upstream and downstream petroleum sectors. The company’s focus is on energy supply, petroleum marketing, strategic consulting, and oil and gas infrastructure development in sub-Saharan Africa. Under her leadership, Cybele Energy has become the first African-owned company in South America to be granted offshore petroleum acreage, according to Business and Financial Times.
International relations and investment initiatives
In 2023, the Illinois Legislative Black Caucus (USA) formally recognized Tayui for co-organizing a diplomatic and cultural exchange mission to Ghana. The honor acknowledged her role in strengthening business, educational, and cultural ties between the United States and Ghana.
Philanthropy
Tayui has been involved in a number of community development programs, particularly in the areas of education, youth development and entrepreneurship. She was the keynote speaker at the 30th Annual Convention of the Council of Ewe Associations of North America (CEANA) and gave $10,000 to educational and development programs in Ghana, Togo and Benin.
