Batang Pinoy 2011

Executive Order No. 44, otherwise known as the Philippine Youth Games–Batang Pinoy, serves as the national sports competition program for children, and is envisioned to address the need for a grassroots sports program centered on values formation inherent in the practice of sports and play.

Batang Pinoy is designed in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), and the Leagues of Provinces, Cities, Municipalities and Barangays. The Philippine Olympic Committee and National Sports Associations, both non-government entities and internationally recognized authorities in different sports, shall run and oversee the technical management of the event.

High performing of the 2011 edition of Batang Pinoy athletes shall undergo high-level training for three (3) years in preparation for the second edition of Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China in 2014, and for other international age group competitions.

Goals

1. Provides the structure for a truly comprehensive sports development program for children 15 years old and below. High performing athletes shall undergo high-level training for three (3) years in preparation for the second edition of Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China in 2014, and for other international age group competitions.

2. Encourages all local government executives to invest in the development of sports within their respective areas.

3. Solicits commitment from local sports leaders and officials to put premium importance in the early exposure and involvement of children in sports for the youth’s total development.

4. Instills the values of discipline, teamwork, camaraderie, unity, solidarity, competitiveness and fair play as vital ingredients in building an alert and healthy youth citizenry;

5. Widens the base to select potential athletes for future national and international sports competitions, primarily the quadrennial Youth Olympic Games.

General Guidelines

Age and Representation

1. Batang Pinoy is an open tournament for children 15 years old and below based on the Batang Pinoy calendar year. For 2011 edition of Batang Pinoy, participants shall not be born earlier than 1996.

2. Due to unique characteristic and nature of one sport to another, the following are adapted age brackets to be followed:
:Archery - 15 years old and below (Born not earlier than 1996)
:Arnis - 13-15 years old (Birth year 1996, 1997 and 1998)
:Athletics - 15 years old and below (Born not earlier than 1996)
:Badminton - 13-15 years old (Birth year 1996, 1997 and 1998)
:Basketball - 15 years old and below (Born not earlier than 1996)
:Boxing - 13-15 years old (Birth year 1996, 1997 and 1998)
:Chess - 15 years old and below (Born not earlier than 1996)
:Judo - 12-15 years old (Birth in year 1996, 1997, 1998 and 1999)
:Swimming - 12-15 years old (Birth in year 1996, 1997, 1998 and 1999)
:Table Tennis- 15 years old and below (Born not earlier than 1996)
:Taekwondo - 13-15 years old (Birth year 1996, 1997 and 1998)
:Tennis - 15 years old and below (Born not earlier than 1996)
:Weightlifting- 14 years old and below (Born not earlier than 1996)
:Wrestling - 13-15 years old (Birth year 1996, 1997 and 1998)

3. Representation is strictly by Local Government Unit (LGU). This may be in the form of a provincial, city or municipal representation. No athlete shall be accepted without accreditation of a particular LGU.

4. The LGU representation of an athlete shall be decided based on his/her parents' residency.

5. Batang Pinoy is open to all Filipinos whether by birth or naturalized. Foreign-Pinoy may also join provided he/she represents a particular LGU. In cases both parents are residing abroad, the place of either parent shall be the basis.

6. No athlete shall be allowed to represent more than one LGU.

1. Maximum of 6 delegation officials/chaperons per LGU will be provided with accommodation.
2. Accommodation arrangement is by LGU.
3. Host city shall provide accommodation to all participating LGUs.

7. The following are proof of eligibility of athletes (a-b) and LGU entry form to be submitted by the LGUs:
:a. On parents' residency
:Any of the following bearing the name of parents: Barangay certificate or billing address or any government issued ID card with address
:b. Birth certificate of athlete (certified true copy or original)

Any of the following bearing the name of athlete: NSO issued or Local Civil Registrar issued


:c. LGU Entry Form

Is a delegation/LGU masterlist (name, sports and age of athletes and officials) to be certified by the Mayor.

8. LGU entry forms must be submitted to Batang Pinoy Manila-based Secretariat and the Host on or before the following schedules:
