Barwinners
Barwinners is a company in the United States that offers a bar exam preparation course. The program is a comprehensive seven-week course covers the six major areas covered on the Multistate Bar Examination (MBE) — torts, contracts, real property, evidence, criminal law, and constitutional law — along with additional lectures on the specific law of the state, specializing in the California Bar Examination, repeat bar exam takers.
History
Shari Karney started a bar prep course in 1983 and called the "Karney Writing Course." She began the company to supplement her income while trying the incest survivor cases but it has developed into her main source of income when she stopped practicing in order to educate attorneys and the public about their rights under SB 108. Over the years, the company name changed to Barwinners and the course specializes in helping repeat takers pass the exam, particularly for the California Bar Examination.
Course
Barwinners focuses on preparation courses for the California Bar Exam but has tutored students for bar exams in other states including New York, Nevada, Washington. The California course offers lectures in person in Santa Monica, CA and remotely by DVD or online. The lectures are taught by faculty from local ABA-accredited law schools and by Shari Karney. Other faculty includes an on-staff specialist who offers help with stress management techniques, testing anxiety, and time management skills. The course offers group and individual tutoring.
Barwinners also provides bar preparation for the California First Year Law Students’ Examination, also known as the Baby Bar.

Pass Rate
Barwinners’ pass rate is 94% for first-time test takers from ABA schools who graduated top 30%; 86% pass rate for repeaters.
