Baraa Ahmed Mohammed

Baraa Ahmed Mohammed (Arabic: براء أحمد محمد; born July 6, 1996) is an Iraqi journalist, content creator, and civil activist born in the Al-Za'franiya district of Baghdad. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in Administration and Economics in 2019.

Career

Baraa Ahmed began his professional career as a digital content creator. In 2018, he transitioned into television broadcasting after being invited to work on the TV program Hukmat Al-Yowm. He has also contributed to various online platforms and media outlets.

Civil and Political Activism

Baraa Ahmed has been an active participant in civil movements and public demonstrations in Iraq advocating for political, administrative, and economic reforms:

2015 Protests: He participated in the demonstrations protesting poor public services during the administration of Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi.

Tishreen Protests: He took part in the October 2019 (Tishreen) protests, which called for structural political reform, anti-corruption measures, and national sovereignty. Reports indicate he was detained multiple times during these demonstrations.

Cultural Activities

Mohammed has participated in various cultural and civil festivals and initiatives in Iraq, most notably: The "Ana Iraqi" (I am Iraqi) Festival, The "Ana Aqra" (I Read) Campaign, The "Baghdad Dar Al-Salam" Festival, and The "Oshina Kite Festival".
