Bahman Tavoosi
Bahman Tavoosi () is a writer, producer, and Canadian & Iranian film director based in Montreal.
Biography
Tavoosi was born on February 2, 1984 in Tehran, Iran to a Turkish-Kurdish family. His family moved to Canada in 2006. He attended Concordia University.
In 2013, Bahman Tavoosi founded Peacock Film Production in Montreal, Canada. His first feature film was The Republic of (A) (2011), this film was produced in Montreal. His second featured film is A Dress Rehearsal for an Execution (2013). It received a number of credits and reviews.
In A Dress Rehearsal for an Execution, Tavoosi reconstructs a famous photo of Jahangir Razmi of a scene of execution of prisoners. The photo wins the Pulitzer prize but the photographer remained anonymous for 25 years until he is encouraged by a journalist of Wall Street Journal to reveal his identity. The film was shown at the HotDocs Festival in Toronto.
