Avery (singer)

Avery (Born Anna Marie Avery; November 22nd, 1994) stylized AVERY is an American singer-songwriter from Phoenix, Arizona. Her debut single and video, “Love Me or Let Me Go” was released on her YouTube Account and reached over 1 million views in less than 3 months of its release. She is now signed by Universal records and in January 2011 Entertainment Tonight labeled her, “The next big thing,” and is one of the youngest artists to be signed by Universal Motown.

Early Life

Avery's first experience with music was in the local theater where she played Gabriella in their version of High School Musical. Avery sang her in hometown choir, and she was part of a singing charity group “Acts of Love” where she would perform at homeless shelters and teen crisis centers throughout the city.

2009-2010: Discovery/Love Me or Let Me Go

Avery was discovered at the age of 14 by manager/producer Aton Ben-Horin from The Agency. Ben-Horin was with a friend who was watching comedy skits on YouTube. Avery and a few friends had recreated the car scene from the movie Stepbrothers, singing “Sweet Child of Mine” by Guns & Roses. Ben-Horin, who was not watching the skit, had heard Avery’s voice in the video, and chose to take action.

With the help of Avery's parents, he flew her to Plush Studios in Orlando, FL where they wrote and recorded her first single entitled “Love Me or Let Me Go”. The music video was filmed 2 weeks later, which can be seen on Youtube.

2011-Present: Go Screw Yourself

Avery is now signed to UniversalMotown Records and is currently in the studio writing and recording her debut album. It is planned to be released in late 2011.

Her second single was just released on itunes May 28th, 2011. The song is entitled. "Go Screw Yourself (GSY)" As she describes it: "[A] song goes out to anyone that's ever tried to bring you down. Anyone that's ever stabbed you in the back. Anyone that's ever cheated on you." and jokingly adds "Hey Haters? THIS ONE'S FOR YOU...GO SCREW YOURSELF!!" It is not yet clear if the song is going to be featured on her first album or just remain a single, along with "Love Me or Let Me Go”.
