Avalaunch
Avalaunch is an alternative Xbox Dashboard that allows users a lot of Flexibility and ability to customize the layout to fit their needs. It is free to use, and is developed by a group called Team Avalaunch. Because of Microsoft's copy protection measures, users that wish to run Avalaunch need to Either install a mod-chip, replace the original Microsoft BIOS with one that is friendly to running un-signed code, or install a software exploit on to the hard drive which allows the Xbox to run unsigned code.
Avalaunch is distinguished from other Xbox dashboards by a few features:
- it can automatically update itself over the internet
- it integrates with XLink Kai, a free gaming network for many different consoles,
- it is mostly configurable through its own GUI, rather than editing a ".ini" file prior to installing
