Atta Muhammad Mazari

Atta Muhammad Mazari was an individual hailing from the town of Basti Abdullah near Rojhan in Rajanpur the border district of Punjab province of Pakistan. He hailed from an ethnic Baloch family belonging to the Sodwani clan of the Mazari tribe who was present inside the Lal Masjid and Jamia Hafsa complex during the July 2007 military operation (Operation Sunrise). He was maternal cousin of the Lal Masjid's leaders Moulana Abdul Aziz and Abdul Rashid Ghazi as being the son of Haji Muhammad Sodvani Mazari During the final assault and subsequent clearing operations of the complex he was among those reported killed inside the compound.

Atta Muhammad Mazari attended Government High School Soonmiani Rojhan Mazari in Rajanpur District where he passed the Secondary School Certificate examination in the Science Group under the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Dera Ghazi Khan, in 1996. He later studied at the Government Commercial Training Institute, Rajanpur, and passed the Diploma in Commerce examination conducted by the Punjab Board of Technical Education Lahore in 1998 the diploma was formally awarded in 2000.

During his studies Atta Muhammad Mazari also served in the National Cadet Corps with A Company of the Rajanpur Battalion from October 1996 to October 1997.

Following the conclusion of the military operation family members including father of Atta Muhammad, Haji Mohammad who traveled from Rojhan Mazari. spent days waiting at relief and identification centers such as the Sports Complex in Islamabad to provide DNA samples and locate missing relatives. Due to the severe condition of the remains recovered from the compound official confirmation of Ata Muhammad's identity required matching DNA records alongside physical family recognitions. Although his DNA was matched his father Haji Ahmed Sodvani was shown a grave which he dug up to see his son. Most of the body was burned and he recognized him only by a mark on his foot.
