Asterix (producer)
Mario J. Miranda (born in San Gil, Colombia), better known by his stage name Asterix and Sueño 1, is a Los Angeles based record producer and performer.
Asterix produces for Dojo Productions and operates Firehouse Studios] in Carson CA. He has contributed to many projects including tracks featuring Lil Scrappy, MC Eiht, 2mex and True Villanz.
Asterix was the 2002 Beat Olympics Champion, beating out Stones Throw affiliated producer Kankick in the final round of the competition.
His first record appearances came as a member of hip hop group Western Union alongside rappers L.O.R.D Wu-Shu and DJ Abel He also released a 12" maxi single titled "Lookout" alongside rappers L.O.R.D, Ammo 1 and Gunnie Sanotchra under the group name Dojo Pros. Other notable production include "The Novalist" and "You can't win" by hip hop duo "The Mic Snatchers","Think About it" by L.O.R.D, a song that later appeared on the 4th Disciple 1996 [2001] compilation. He also produced the songs "Paper", "Riverside", "Ghetto Ballin", "Lo Lo" and "True Villanz" for chicano rapper Python.
In 2006 Asterix produced the tracks "Monkey Business", "Disappear" and "Gangster and Gentlemen" on the Ivy Leagues's Money, Fast Cars & Broads release through the Youngworld label.
In 2009 Asterix contributed to the Fresh Boyz Jerk or Die compilation producing the single "All I need is bass" for Yung Japan and co-releasing the project under the Firehouse label, RT^2 Productions and Fresh Boys enetrtainment. The project has since been re-released under the "Shot Records" stamp. In Jan 2010 Asterix released Firehouse Muzik Vol 1 A collection of music either produced by Asterix or featuring verses by him over the course of his career. The 72 minute/ 30 track CD was released in partnership with Muz Wear Urbn Grmnts The album is slated for mass retail release in 5/10. Asterix also contributed to the "Failure is not an Option" Compilation, a project whos release conisides with th SXSW music festival.
