Ashok Kumar Sharma
Ashok Kumar Sharma is a politician in India. He served as member of the Rajya Sabha in The INDIAN Parliament.
Early life
Ashok Kumar Sharma is a member of the Sharma family, the one of most prominent political family in India.He was the son of Sadhu Ram sharma , who was the brother Shankar Dayal Sharma (August 19, 1918 - December 26, 1999) who was the 9th President of republic of India serving from 1992 to 1997.
Political career
Ashok Kumar Sharma rose in political circles to become one of the most powerful men in state of Uttar Pradesh. In 1991 ,when the BJP came to power post- Mulayam Singh Yadav , Ashok Kumar Sharma joined hands with Mulayam Singh Yadav and Defense Minister George Fernandes , who offered him a candidacy from Ghaziabad under his Samajwadi Party. He won hardily, and became the minister.
By 1991 after he had entered politics, the cases filed against DP Yadav and KC Tyagi have fallen abruptly . In the system used by the Indian Police called "history sheet", hardened criminals are rated A or B; A are those who have some potential for being reformed; B are the incorrigibles. DP Yadav, and KC Tyagi is a B class history-sheeter.
In 2004, Atal Bihari Vajpayee who has an otherwise clean image, faced considerable criticism for having inducted Ashok Kumar Sharma into his Bharatiya Janata Party, under which Ashok Kumar Sharma served on Indian Parliament's house of elders, the Rajya Sabha.
Today his reputation is so established that the main business (extortion) proceeds smoothly without too much actual exercise of force and he is among the some persons in the Ghaziabad whose house was surrounded by lean, gun-wielding cops and private musclemen for security.

Today, Ashok Kumar Sharma is said to be a man worth more than Rs 2500 crore, which invest in property , steel mill in vapi ( gujrat ) , Since the late 1990s, Sharma also built up the Picadally hotel chain with his family member Venod Sharma including the Blue Ice pub-cum-discotheque in Chandigarh (opened in 2002), and a theatre. ,Residency Hotel chain with his family friend DP Yadav and other businesses.
