Armida Technologies

Armida Technologies,Inc. is a wireless technology company based in San Antonio, TX, USA, that develops IP (Internet Protocol) wireless networking equipment for the physical security industry. The technology is based on the IEEE WiFi standards 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g and 802.11n. The company has been independently selling the ArmidaWare(TM) products since 2007. Armida's principal product is the SecurityController, which is an integrated wireless system that combines the functionality of a analog video encoder, an Ethernet switch, a wireless transceiver, and interfaces for serial security devices such as access control systems.

In conjunction with the hardware platform, the company also developed Videlity(R), a patent pending software encapsulation technology that dramatically improves the reliability of video transmission over IP networks, while maintaining full interoperability with any other 802.11 wireless system. Videlity overcomes The Effects of packet loss (such as network jitter)in the network to ensure that the video stream is not corrupted during transmission. This technology also reduces re-tranmissions, thereby improving overall throughput in the wireless network.

The product was conceived by Bill Lawrence in 2003 and the company was founded in 2004 by Bill Lawrence, Matt Reedy, and Sloan Foster. Lawrence had previously led the Asia Pacific Enterprise Division for Marconi Communications. Lawrence and Foster had worked together in a wireless systems integration company and recruited Mr. Reedy. Reedy was the founder and CTO of IQ Software a company which he led through an IPO 1992. Armida began marketing the ArmidaWare products in early 2007 after a 2 year development effort, with the first commercial deployments in the Spring of 2007. The company was recognized by the San Antonio Technology Accelerator Initiative (SATAI) with the "Technology Superstar Award" in 2005.
