Antonia Cox

Antonia Cox is the Conservative candidate for the Parliament of the United Kingdom in the constituency of Islington South and Finsbury. She is a mother of three living in London - originally from Hampshire – and a governor of a special school. She currently writes editorials for the London Evening Standard, with a particular focus on education and health policy.

After Cambridge University and a spell as a research assistant in the House of Commons, she worked in investment banking in London and New York.

In 1989 she switched to journalism, becoming banking correspondent of the Daily Telegraph and later a leader writer there before moving to her current post. She is the author of the Policy Exchange publication, "The Best Kit: why Britain's defence doesn't need an all-British defence industry". This argues against protectionist policies in defence procurement and in favour of better value for money for our armed forces.

Besides political and financial journalism, Antonia has also written travel and arts features for the Standard, The Independent on Sunday and the New York Times, and broadcast live on CNBC.
