AntiGravity is a group of New York gymnasts/performance artists. They have performed at the Olympic Games (not as competitors), the MTV Video Music Awards, and the Grammy Awards. They were formed in 1990 by Christopher Harrison (Founder and President)
Following a dream to fly, Christopher Harrison excelled as both a world class athlete and Broadway performer. Expanding upon his passion, in 1990 he founded a company to be a hybrid of sports and performing arts, to embody a philosophy that nurtures creativity and emphasizes the joy of fitness. He aptly named his vision AntiGravity®.
Since the company’s inception, as the Artistic Director Mr. Harrison has been prolific in creating a market for this new athletic art form, generating jobs and forming careers while leading his team through many diverse sectors of the entertainment industry. He has conceived and produced six full-length original productions and directed and/or choreographed over 400 entertainment projects worldwide.
Mr. Harrison has produced entertainment for a stellar array of worldwide icons including; P. Diddy, Britney Spears, Mariah Carey, George Lucas, Paul Newman, Bill Gates, Richard Branson, George Soros, Steve Forbes, Giorgio Armani, Marc Jacobs, Gwen Stefani, Hal Prince, Franco Dragone and Franco Zeffirelli. He has created numbers for the Metropolitan Opera House (ten seasons), Radio City Music Hall (three seasons), Six Broadway shows (helping to garner 2 Tony Awards), numerous TV award shows and specials, the NFL, the NBA and the Olympic Games.
Growing up in a family full of educators, the desire to teach and inspire holds a high priority in Christopher’s life. As an involved community leader, Mr. Harrison has established athletic outreach programs in Hell’s Kitchen for the Manhattan Plaza Youth Program, Sutton Kids and West Side Kids, imbuing his fitness philosophy while teaching acrobatic and performance techniques to inner city children and the disabled. Harrison’s community work earned him the title of "New Yorker of the Week" by Time Warner. Determined to use his talents as a positive force, he has also lent his championship team and indomitable spirit to many causes, for many years, helping to generate hundreds of thousands of dollars for charity organizations.
AntiGravity: The 2007 tour
AntiGravity plans to wrap up their 2007 tour (which started in Hawaii) at New York's Hammerstein Ballroom/Manhattan Center in June. AntiGravity: The 2007 Tour runs from June 27 through July 1st and features new costumes and material, as well as a "greatest hits" compilation of previous performances. The large scale of the venue allows AntiGravity to offer the audience a completely immersive experience, performing in the air above the audience as well as on stage.
To promote the event, the company has created a special series of videos and podcasts to show a glimpse of what the show offers.
