Anti-Maratha-Kunbi

Kunbi being a class of Kutumbik's which existed for centuries from Central India to Kashmir went through several sub divisions and conversions. There are very few Anti-Kunbi sentiments among The INDIAN's due to the vast number of population. The term Kunbi is commonly used in India in the provinces of Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat, Andra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Bangladesh, Karnatak and Madhya Pradesh.

Since Kunbi's have had a traditional dominance in creating wealth, farming and politics several groups mainly the Brahman's, Backward Class and Dalits has manipulated the group to their own benefit.

  • Mandal Commission

As per Babasaheb Kalekar kunbi's were not included in the reservation system primarily because during the 1950's they were well settled in the farming sector that was firmly support by the then British Raj. The Mandal Commission which was primarily Anti-Brahmin, was trying to increase its mass base through out India by promising reservation to Non-Brahmin's. In Central India the Kunbi-Maratha's enjoyed good support from the local Rulers because Kunbis formed the backbone of the society. Overall the Mandal Commission was successful in fragmenting the social structure. However this has not helped to remove poverty from the society.

  • Religious Conversions
  • Political vote bank

Religious and Non-religious politicians in Maharashtra have taken benefit of this group by giving false promises, poor quality of infrastructure, education to farmers and people.
