Anokha Techfest
Anokha is the annual inter college techfest of Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore Campus. Each department conducts various events which include competitions, video conferences, quizzes and workshops. There have been multiple editions of the event. "Anokha" which translates to ‘Unique’ has emerged as one of the most popular and top 5 student technical events in India.
History
With the need to create more opportunities for technological awareness and provide students with the finest opportunities to showcase their skills, Amrita University started Anokha on February 2010, as it’s annual 3 day long technical cum cultural fest . Growing from its very humble beginnings Amrita silenced all critics by successfully organising it for 3 years during which an amazing support from the college management and an excellent student work force Anokha made itself into the top five technical fests of the country trailing only those such as IIT-M, BITS etc.
during its 2012 edition Anokha had a gigantic footfall of 7,000 students from around the country taking part in more than 50+ technical workshops and events with cash prizes worth Rs. 1.5 million at stake. Participants came from some of the most reputed colleges such as the IIT’s, NIT’s, BITS and from a few foreign institutions. Anokha 2010 was inaugurated by the secretary to the Prime Minister and its 2011 edition was inaugurated by the then chairman of ISRO Mr G Madhavan Nair, and bearing in mind that Anokha was being closely followed by industry leaders and the top brass of our government Anokha has always lived up to its expectations and has been much appreciated by many for being one of the fastest growing tech fests in our country and standing as an example to other institutions. Last year Amrita made a quantum leap by making Anokha the first green tech fest in our country and we were graced by organisations such as the CII, Green Building Corporation of India for our efforts. With a host of creative ideas in our arsenal the students of Amrita have successfully garnered towards one of our country’s youngest tech fest. The technical workshops had industrial experts from companies around the world such as Facebook, ITC Ltd, Bosch, ABB, BSE (Bombay Stock Exchange). Amrita was the first college in the south to have BSE come and conduct a stock exchange workshop for the students. Anokha- 2011 was also home to India’s largest car expo in a college, Torq- which had a huge collection of vehicles ranging from about 65 vintage cars to Audi’s and Harley Davidson bikes. This three day extravagant event offers accommodation facilities for all students coming from out-station colleges. During the period of these three days many students take the opportunity to certify themselves by attending various workshops conducted continuously throughout the campus.
Anokha officially starts its registration one month before the event. All the 50+ events can be registered online from the Anokha website at www.anokha.amrita.edu The online registration involves creating an Anokha account where students either pay the amount online or at the registration counters at the start of the three day mega event.
