Annadh

Annadh is an obscure and rare plant that grows around the River of Jordan Valley. It is a type of [...] that belongs to the family of artemisia, from the Astrocytes species. It is native in southeast Jordan, and needs temperatures between 20 °C and 30 °C (68 °F and 86 °F) and a considerable amount of annual rainfall to thrive. It does not have the strong smell other members of its family possess. Used in traditional medicine for centuries to treat asthma and other respiratory problems Annadh stems are boiled and prepared as a tea.

It is now known to have a strong anti-inflammatory effect, and for that reason was used to treat a variety of inflammatory related illnesses like heart disease, cancer, respiratory disease, stroke, Alzheimer’s disease, diabetes, and kidney disease. The plant was forgotten for decades perhaps due to the political instability of the region where it grows. It was rediscovered less than 10 years ago and has been a topic of research since 2012. Annadh showed significant results on patients with Multiple Sclerosis in a study conducted by the Jordanian Multiple Sclerosis Association. Since then, it has been used to treat other inflammatory disease such as Lupus, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Hyperthyroidism, and Hypothyroidism.
