Angelina Amaris
Angelina Amaris (born December 23, 1976) is a German actress and producer. Her first stage performance takes place at the age of only 3 years at the Deutsches Theater in Munich. Amaris first gained widespread attention for her role in the TV-Series Marienhof (1996), and Eva,ganz mein Fall (2002–2003)
Early life and family
Originally, Sylvia Angelina Amaris comes from a traditional artist family in Czechoslowakia (musicians, actors, painters, writers), who were abducted to different concentration camps for opposing the regime during World War II. Except for her grandmother, who was able to escape in the last minute and who fled the country together with her 2 small children, Sylvia Angelina's mother and aunt, they were all killed.
Sylvia Angelina Amaris was born in Munich and raised in Germany and Italy, and spent a lot of her time with her aunt in France. („I hold all of these three countries within me. From Germany, I have the discipline and punctuality (head), from Italy, the emotionality (heart), from France, the soul.“)
Her first stage performance takes place at the age of only 3 years at the Deutsches Theater in Munich as a part of her dance education. During this education, she develops a special affinity for „modern” rhythm-orientated styles like tap dance.
Inspired by a film with Audrey Hepburn, she wants to become a nun and changes to a convent school with the intention to become a better person.
Education
Angelina Amaris studies acting at Lee Strasberg Institute New York City, Theatre of Arts Los Angeles, Performing Arts Center Munich, Zinner Studio, with teachers such as John Costopoulos or Kathrin Ackermann; singing classes at Opera Studio Gernot-Heindl/ Munich, and teachers such as Irmingard Stümmer – National Opera House Munich, Elaine Arandes – State Theatre Gärtnerplatz; dancing classes at Boston Ballet, Performing Arts Center, Studio Albertus, Tanzforum München
In 1998, she graduates at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich and receives her Master/Arts in theatre, film, music and art, and continues her studies at the Film Academy Munich (HFF).
In 1999, she decides to live and study in the USA and plays different roles at the Theatre of Arts in Los Angeles. After her return to Germany, she works not only as an actress, but also in directing and choreography in theatre and films.
Career
Film and TV-series
Her first film part at international level is a small role in 1989 in the „Neverending story II” (director: George Miller). Several more parts follow in different films and TV-Series: Nighttrain to Venice (director: Carlo Quinterio, with Hugh Grant, Malcolm Mc Dowell). "Die Cellistin” (director: Sherry Horman, with Jeanette Hain, Richie Mueller), „Therapie und Praxis” (director: Rene Heisig, with Thomas Heintze), „Eva, ganz mein Fall” (director: Stefan Bartmann, with Siegfried Rauch), „Pommery und Leichenschmaus” (director: Manfred Stelzer, with Katharina Thalbach, Pierre Besson, Eva Hassmann), and other leading and supporting parts in different films and TV-Series.
Theatre
Apart from her activity in film, she plays first theatre parts. At early age she has been a member of the ensemble of the Staatstheater am Gaertnerplatz, Munich since 1990: roles like Juliska Horvath in „Csardasfuerstin“, Käthchen in „Werther“, Mr Higgins´maid and Mr. A. Doolittle's neighbour in „My fair Lady“, Fermina in „Der Mann von La Mancha“, the goddess Athena in „Iphigenie in Aulis“, Piccolo in „Bettelstudent“, the flamenco dancer in „Carmen“, Charlotte, the bride in „Zar und Zimmermann“, Odette, Solo-swan in „Funny Girl“, a ballet dancer in „Capriccio“, Charlie Chaplin and the cook in „Higgelti Piggelti Pop“, the mermaid in „Heimkehr des Odysseus“, Don Giovanni's lover, a Minuet dancer and fury in „Don Giovanni“, the demimondaine in „Martha“ and many more. Apart from the “Staatstheater am Gaertnerplatz” in Munich, she also performs at the following theatres: Residenztheater Munich, Stadttheater Ingolstadt, Stadttheater Fürth, Markgräfliches Theater Bayreuth, Philharmonie Cologne, Theatertage in Hof etc.
Music
In 1995, she acquires a record deal (Pop/Jazz) with Sierra-Coctel in Paris. Since 1997, she has been a member of the National Opera House, Munich.
