==Early life and career==
Andrew Hollander was born and raised in [[West Orange, New Jersey]]. In his teenage years Hollander performed in and wrote songs for a series of [[rock and roll]] bands. By 15 he was musical directing concerts which gave him the opportunity to perform with Motown stars [[The Marvelettes]], [[The Shirelles]], and [[Mary Wilson (singer)|Mary Wilson]] of [[The Supremes]].
Hollander received his B.A. in Music from the [[University of Massachusetts]] where he worked alongside iconic jazz musician [[Yusef Lateef]] and played piano on three of [[Yusef Lateef|Lateef's]] records. After college, Hollander moved to [[New York City]] to focus on his music career. He joined the rock band [[Mr. Henry]], which gave him the opportunity to tour with and open for [[Counting Crows]], [[Live (band)|Live]], and [[Squirrel Nut Zippers]]. After [[Mr. Henry]] fulfilled a deal with [[EMI Music]] for two records, Hollander co-founded [[Sugarbox Studios]], a full-service music production and recording studio in [[New York City]].
