Life and career
Anastassios Kalkandis is born in Piraeus on 03/10/1975. He has graduated as a mechanical engineer. During his engineering career he has participated in various engineering projects, such as tolerance stack analysis research with the leading world experts on this subject, Prof. Kenneth G. Swift and Dr. Martin Raines. After turning down prestigious job offers from the UK industry, he currently works in a flying car project, trying to establish his own company. The project proceedes slowly due to his reluctance to abandone his MusicAL career.
In the meantime during his years in the university he designed and made his own horn, a BLEND of trumpet and cornet, which is claimed to be the most successful up to date, something that gives him an individual sound. He is currently a rising star of the international jazz scene, under the guidance of his longtime mentor and friend, the Greek legendary trumpeter Yanni Theodoridis.
