Anaheim University is a nationally accredited university based in Anaheim, California. The University is accredited by the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC), an educational accreditation agency founded in 1926 located in Washington, D.C. The DETC is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and the United States Department Of Education as an accreditor of institutions of higher education.

Anaheim University was one of the first online universities in the United States to offer graduate degree programs entirely online. The University is based in the City of Anaheim in Orange County, California USA and has branch offices in Irvine, California and Tokyo, Japan.

The University is made up of three graduate schools: the Graduate School of Education‎, the ‎Akio Morita School of Business (named after Sony founder Akio Morita), and theAnaheim University Akira Kurosawa School of Film (named after Akira Kurosawa). The Institutes include the Anaheim University David Nunan Institute for Language Education (established to honor David Nunan), and the Anaheim University Kisho Kurokawa Green Institute (conceived by architect Kisho Kurokawa). The Kisho Kurokawa Green Institute and the Akio Morita School of Business were jointly developed through the interdisciplinary program "Online MBA in Sustainable management", which is similar to other distance learning Green MBAs that started to be offered in the United States after the year 2000.

The University is best known for its online Masters Degree in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). The faculty of the Graduate School of Education‎ includes Rod Ellis, Kathleen Bailey, Ruth Wajnryb, and David Nunan .

Anaheim University Studios, the University's digital film studios, are located in Irvine, California, United States.

The Anaheim University Akio Morita Learning Center is located on the former estate of Sony Founder Akio Morita in the Minami Aoyama district of Minato, Tokyo, Japan and serves as the University's hub in Asia.
