AMIT (musician)
AMIT is a composer of Indian heritage, who is based in the United Kingdom. He produces electronic music and has contributed to the development of the "half-step" Drum And Bass sub-genre. His debut album Never Ending was released in 2006 and re-released on the Commercial [...] label 2011. The album led to AMIT's endorsement as a "most EXCITING and original artist" in Great Britain.

AMIT studied Music Technology at Thames Valley University.

AMIT's music contains Asian and Middle Eastern undertones. His experimental work is influenced by dub, reggae, techno and electro. AMIT incorporates political references into his music.
Career
AMIT is a recording artist, live music performer, composer, producer and music consultant for theatre productions. He has released over thirty tracks (singles) including Gatecrasher, Village Folk, and Roots on labels such as Metalheadz and Commercial [...]. The BBC has listed AMIT in their "Top 5 'Best Single' and 'Best Producer'" categories. AMIT has been a supporting artist for Sonic Youth and Goldie. In 2007, AMIT engaged in a collaborative project, Inamorata (Sony Red Label) with bass producer Bill Laswell. Other musicians involved in the project included Iggy Pop, Mike Patton and Toshinori Kondo. AMIT composed the score for short films including Stain, Rent and Sandwich. These films were screened at the Raindance Film Festival and the London Film Festival. In 2009, AMIT was selected for Powerlab, a higher training scheme for professional artists run by B3 Media. While taking part in this scheme, he developed Electronic Orchestra, a project which took one of AMIT's electronic tracks and ReWorked it as a conventional score for orchestral performance. Massive Attack’s Neil Davidge assisted and mentored AMIT during this project. The resulting track entitled, MK Ultra, featured on AMIT's second album, 9 Times released in 2011 on the Commercial [...] label. The title track featured the lyrics and vocals of music artist, RANI. It was selected as 'track of the week' by dnb websites www.deepbassunited.com and www.everydayjunglist.biz. Kmag placed the album in their top ten dnb releases of 2011. AMIT has performed in countries such as Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Canada, Iceland, Japan, and U.S.A.
