Amarjit Grewal

Amarjit Grewal is a Canadian politician. He was the Liberal Party of Canada candidate for Edmonton—Mill Woods—Beaumont, but lost to the Conservative candidate in the 2006 election.

Background

Amarjit emigrated to Canada over thirty years ago and has been a resident of the Knottwood community for the past twenty-one years.

Amarjit is a Disabled Adult Transit Service (D.A.T.S.) driver and is a union representative for D.A.T.S with the Edmonton Transit Services (ATU 569). He was a lead negotiator with the Edmonton Taxi Commission from 1992 to 1997 and is a recipient of a Good Citizenship Award from the Edmonton Police Commission.

An entrepreneur, he owns Lakewood Liquor Store. An athlete in his youth, he was on the sport honour role at Khalsa College, Amritsar. At University, Amarjit set the 800m record, won the gold medal in the 400m, while he captained his University Track and Field Team to the gold medal.
