All Things Firesign

All Things FiRESiGN is a compilation CD released in 2003 by Artemis Records. It comprises 28 short comedy pieces by The Firesign Theatre, originally recorded for National Public Radio's All Things Considered during the second half of 2002.

All but the last three pieces are under three minutes. Half of them feature all four members, while another quarter are solo performances.

Included are:

  • At least 11 routines satirizing the George W. Bush administration, one of which is a parody of The McLaughlin Group.
  • Seasonal pieces made to be aired around Independence Day, Labor Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Eve.
  • A new performance of "Pass the Indian, Please" from the group's 1977 album Just Folks . . . A Firesign Chat. Intended as a Thanksgiving piece, it is the only one that did not air and consists of old material. ("ATC (NPR) has rejected The Indian Piece and will broadcast nothing by FST on Thursday. Indian Piece said to be "incomprehensible" by ATC executive." -Phil Austin 1 and 2)
  • Two Nick Danger routines, one of which is a retelling of A Visit from St. Nicholas.
  • A routine based on, but not the same as, the final track on Give Me Immortality or Give Me Death, to celebrate New Year's Eve.
  • A reappearance of Dr. "Happy" Harry Cox and Gen. Curtis Goatheart, Ret. (both from Everything You Know Is Wrong), who exchange conspiracy theories on the possible meanings of the mysterious phrase "Shoes for Industry".
