Alexander Devol

Alexander Devol (born 1984) is a British painter, freelance illustrator and designer living in Lancashire, England. Devol is the founder of art collective and LifeStyle brand Hicalorie and today CREATES most of his paintings and products working under that name.

Biography

Devol's work stems from creating street-art and graffiti as a teenager and has led him to now exhibit his artwork internationally in numerous galleries and high profile events. Devol's work is often described as superflat or pop surrealism and has been noted as a late contribution to the lowbrow art-movement. His illustration and graphic design work includes advertising and editorial illustrations for various international magazines, record labels, brands and media partners. Primarily working with character illustration several of his more familiar characters have been created into vinyl designer toys and collectibles. In 2006 Devol officially founded his first project Hicalorie which with help from other international artists he developed into an international lifestyle brand housing a clothing label and design studio. Since the launch of Hicalorie, Devol works mainly under the Hicalorie name rather than his own and has prolifically collaborated with other brands and artists to develop the brand globally.

Devol has been featured in several publications including Maxim magazine, Clutter, Streetwear Today, Playtimes, Overspray, Computer Arts, and British newspaper the Daily Mail.
