Al Noor City

Al Noor City are two planned twin cities, which is part of an ambitious project to link Asia and Africa by building a transcontinental bridge. The total investment will reach 200 billion US dollars in a 15 years consecutive run.

There will be placed two cities - one in each end of the bridge - one Al-Noor city will be placed in Yemen on an area of - another city will be placed in Djibouti on . The twin cities will be linked by a bridge - the so called Bridge of the Horns.

The twin cities will be designed to ensure they rival some of the major cities of the world.

The cities will according to their location in Djibouti and Yemen make them obvious to function as trade and distribution hubs that will link major trade routes through Africa, the Middle East and the rest of the surrounding world.

The Al-Noor cities will contain all the services essential to a modern metropolis, including free trade zones, research and development campuses, technology parks, financial districts and major business and commercial districts.

History

  • 2009 - Construction is expected to begin this year after the terms of sovereignty for the tax-free metropolises have been agreed.
  • 2025 - By 2025 Noor City will have 2.5 millon people and its twin in Yemen will have 4.5 million citizens. An airport serving both cities will attract 100 million passengers per year.
