History
Al-Masoomeen Yateem trust came into existence in March 2005 in Masjid-e-Abu-Turab at Nabdipora, Hawal, Srinagar after a great deal of discussions headed by "Alhaj Aga Syed Mustaga Rizvi" with the sole aim to provide assistance to deserving orphan families irrespective of social, communal or racial bias. The trust was registered with Sub- Registrar,Srinagar under No. 4180 dated 25-05-2006 and its vision and mission statements were framed in 2007. Initially it started at Sheribat Zadibal, seven kilometers from Lal Chowk Srinagar to help the orphan falling in the area from Narwara to Botakadal, although with meager resources. However, within a couple of years its domain widened to whole Srinagar city and then to the Valley. At present it covers whole J&K state including Poonch, Kargil and Ladakh. As per plan, in April 2007 the founder members of the trust decided to construct an orphanage "Al-Masoomeen Boys Hostel". The land measuring 5400sq ft was identified at Sheribat, taken on lease from Custodian Department Of J&K Govt. after paying a lease amount of Rs 3,00,000 INR. Then written permission from its owner(presently settled at Pakistan) was obtained and the construction work was completed within a short span of 15 months with an expenditure of Rs 10 million INR.The hostel can accommodate 70 orphan students. It was inaugurated on 7th Aug 2009 and 12 orphan boys were granted admission after thorough screening by screening committee of the trust. At present 48 orphan boys are enrolled in the hostel and are provided accommodation, clothes, medical care and quality education. Prof G M Mir has been kind enough to grant admission to the students in his Standard Public School, Alamgiri Bazar. The students have shown very good performance in annual exams. As the five year term was over in May 2011, fresh elections were held in June 2011 and thus new Board of Trustees has been framed for a period of five years. In Sep 2011, the Board of Trustees decided to construct IInd orphanage for girls namely “Al-Masoomeen Girls Hostel”. This land for the purpose stands purchased & construction work has been started at Sheribat.
