AION (carpets)
ΑΙΟΝ S.A. (Greek: ΑΙΩΝ Αυθεντικά Χαλιά 1922) is the company owning a large retail network of handmade oriental carpets in Greece. Its headquarters are located in Athens and 12 of its retail stores are situated in Athens, 1 in Thessaloniki and 1 in Ioannina. In 2008 AION S.A. opened its first retail store outside Greece, in Bucharest, Romania. The company owns offices, R&D studios and quality control branches in Persia, India, Afghanistan, Tibet, and Pakistan.
Products
AION S.A. deals with authentic, high quality oriental-handmade carpets. The company offers a wide range of products, maintaining an average stock of 250.000sqm of handmade carpets from 22 oriental countries, such as Afghanistan, Persia, Tibet, India and Pakistan. All carpets are made from natural row material (wool, silk, etc) and traditional production techniques. Every single carpet is individually selected in situ and it is imported by the company after quality control. A handmade carpet evaluation institute is involved to certify the upper qualities.
Collections
The different collections include carpets of classical style, modern, nomadic art and pieces of exquisite silk.
Market Presence
AION retail network is found in nodal areas of Athens and in the largest towns of Greece. In 2009 the company established a second line of retail stores, Red Carpet, which mainly focuses on economical and modern product mix of handmade carpets.
