Ahmet Tevfik Alpsoy

Ahmet Tevfik Alpsoy (b. ? – d. ?), was a Lieutenant General who served in the Ottoman and Republican armies. He was appointed commander of various units during the Balkan Wars and World War I.

Life

Ahmet Tevfik Alpsoy was born in Aleppo and was the son of Mehmet Bey.

Education

He entered the Military Academy in August 1882 and graduated as a second lieutenant in 1885. After successfully completing the Military Academy, he graduated with the rank of staff captain on May 30, 1888.

  • September 30, 1889 – Reconnaissance missions in the Beirut sector
  • August 28, 1891 – Staff Officer of the 5th Army
  • May 9, 1895 – Staff Officer of the 6th Army
  • April 27, 1907 – Director of the Arazi-i Seniyye in Homs
  • July 8, 1909 – Commander of the 15th Cavalry Brigade, 5th Army
  • January 9, 1911 – Commander of the Antalya Reserve Division
  • September 25, 1911 – Commander of the Independent Kozana Division
  • June 24, 1913 – Commander of the 8th Regular Division
  • Early 1914 – Commander of the VII Corps

Captivity and Aftermath

On March 4, 1919, he was taken prisoner by the British. He returned to Istanbul on October 26, 1919. On November 2, 1920, he was appointed to the Investigation and Classification Commission. As an additional duty, on September 4, 1922, he was appointed to the General Staff Military Court. On May 6, 1923, he retired due to health reasons.
