AFC Shelbyville
History
AFC Shelbyville is an English football team which plays at the Ansty sports and social club in the third division of the Sussex Sunday Football League. They were formed in 2002 and originally played in the Mid-Sussex based Millennium League. AFC Shelbyville currently play in division three of the Sussex Sunday Football League.
The Millennium League
In their first season AFC Shelbyville finished top of Division 2 winning fifteen of their sixteen league games. Promotion to the first division for the 2003/4 season saw AFC Shelbyville finish in 6th position in a league of 9. The second season (2003/4) in the 1st division ended with AFC Shelbyville in 5th place in a league of 10. The 2004/5 season was the last season played in the Millennium League and finished with AFC Shelbyville in a disappointing 6th position in a division of just seven teams.
Sussex Sunday Football League
AFC Shelbyville's first season (2006/7) in the Sussex Sunday Football League started in Division 8. The league was formed of 10 teams with AFC Shelbyville competing with Phoenix FC for the top spot. The league title was decided on the last day of the season with Phoenix FC beating Shelbyville 2 -1 to take the championship. The season endly strongly with Shelbyville beating Phoenix FC in the final of the SSFL Junior Cup with a 2-0 victory after the intial final was stopped in dubious cirmustances with the scored tied at 3-3. Home Ground
The Ansty sports and social club is the home of AFC Shelbyville and is affectionately known as the Ansty MegaDome. The pitch is located on Deaks Lane in Ansty on the outskirts of Cuckfield, West Sussex.
