Ad Bol

Ad Bol (born 8 December 1970, Roosendaal) is a Dutch director and screenwriter. His films have featured at several international film festivals.

Education

Ad Bol studied International Management at the VU University of Amsterdam and developed interests in art, philosophy and literature. After graduating, Bol decided to study art at the Rietveld Art Academy in Amsterdam. His major interests were painting and filmmaking.

Career

In 2005 he directed and wrote his first feature film ‘CASTINGX’. It had its premiere at the Dutch Film Festival and was reviewed by Luc de Rooy as ’an outline of a future masterpiece’.

In 2007 he worked together with Robby Muller and Rutger Hauer at the Rotterdam Film Factory. This resulted in the short film ‘Sweet Betty’ which was shown at the 2007 Rotterdam Film Festival.

In January 2008 he directed and wrote his second feature film ‘BLINDSPOT’. This film won in 2008 the prices for ‘Best Director’ at the Estepona International Film Festival (Spain), ‘Best Feature Film’ at the Waterford International Film Festival (Ireland) and the price for ‘Best Genre Feature’ at the New York International Independent Film Festival.
