ActiveQuote.com is a price comparison service which sells in health and protection insurance and technology to Gocompare.com, Confused.com, uSwitch and Moneyhelpline.
Business model
ActiveQuote's comparison services have been developed by Softswift to create a free-to-use service for UK customers. ActiveQuote makes profit by earning commission from the insurer for each customer who takes out a policy via their website and broker service. ActiveQuote is fully authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority to sell non-investment insurance products.
Company history
The company was founded in 2009 as ActiveQuote Health Ltd and then later renamed ActiveQuote Ltd in 2014 trading as ActiveQuote.com.
The comparison technology has been white-labelled for Confused.com, Gocompare.com, uSwitch and Moneyhelpline under their own respective brand names.
In 2012, ActiveQuote launched their income protection insurance and life insurance comparison in April and November respectively. This led to an office expansion at their premises in Cardiff Bay to facilitate the growth of the business.
In 2014, ActiveQuote was awarded a grant of £600,000 from the Welsh Government to assist with a job growth scheme involving the recruitment of an additional 70 staff.
Awards
ActiveQuote was nominated for the Start-Up Company of the Year Award in 2012 at the Western Main/IQA Business Awards.
At the 2014 Fast Growth 50 Wales awards ActiveQuote was named the Fastest Growing Firm in Cardiff and the 6th Fastest Growing Firm in Wales.
