Access gallery
Access Gallery is a non-profit organization dedicated to emergent contemporary art practices. Founded in 1991, the gallery's mandate is to encourage critical conversations AbOUT contemporary art through experimentation and risk-taking within the gallery space and beyond and is a member of the Pacific Association of Artist-Run Centres (PAARC) 1.
Located in a storefront property on Carrall Street in the heart of Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside/Gastown district, Access presents five shows per year along with an outreach program that includes publications and programming such as workshops, artist talks and panel discussions while acting as venue for other arts-related performances and events.
Over the years, Access has provided important exhibition opportunities for some of Canada’s most successful contemporary artists at early stages of their careers including Myfawny MacLeod 2, Damain Moppett 3, Kevin Schmidt4 and Antonia Hirsch 5.
