Aalokam: Ranges of Vision

Aalokam: Ranges of Vision is a 2023 independent, experimental, Malayalam language anthology film directed by Abhilash Babu in his debut directorial. The film, a crowd funded one, has six different chapters, five of them based on the poems by the Victorian poet Robert Browning. The film had its official premiere on 16 July 2023 and had its YouTube release on 25 March 2025.

Aalokam: Ranges of Vision presents a film within the film, in the first five chapters, while the last chapter tells the story of an aspiring director.

Production

The actors of the film were selected through casting call and participated in an acting workshop before filming started. Along with Robert Browning's five poems, shown as a film within the film, the final chapter uses a story by Egyptian Nobel laureate Naguib Mahfouz as a Drama. The film was completed with a budget of twelve lakh fifty thousand, taking seven days for shooting on different dates of 2022 and 2023.
