80's Music Central

In early 1987, music journalist Martin Hennessy started publishing an email newsletter called the Las Vegas 80's Nuts to friends to keep them up to date AbOUT music news. The newsletter dropped the "Las Vegas" in 2000 when a majority of the subscribers weren't from the city and many international readers signed up. The change also moved to eGroups (which would be purchased by Launch.com) entering their second decade of publication.

A subsequent Web site, 80sNuts.com, was launched in 2000 to hold content from the newsletters as well as host InterViews, reviews and links to band Web sites. The site would change its name 2 years later to 80's Music Central.

Hennessy launched a series of weekday radio segments, the 80's Nuts Update, in 2005 for an online radio station, 80sAirwaves.com. The station closed after a year and the segments were reformulated and renamed Talking 80s Music with Martin Hennessy in a podcast launch in late December of 2006. The show is recorded live via TalkShoe and has included interviews with former King Swamp vocalist Walter Wray, Information Society's Paul Robb and Red Flag's Chris Reynolds.
