2026 Wimberley Cessna 421 crash
The Wimberley air crash occurred on April 30, 2026 at approximately 11:25 p.m. CDT (UTC-5) in Wimberley, Texas at the edge of a neighborhood near Round Rock Road when a Cessna 421C went down at a high rate of speed. The five on board, members of the Amarillo Pickleball Club who were headed for a tournament, were all killed. The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board shall lead the investigation.
Events
The Cessna had taken off from Amarillo some two hours before with a companion Cessna, both headed for New Braunfels National Airport in New Braunfels, Texas when it began behaving erratically and fell off the scope; another, separate aircraft reported that its locator emergency device had emitted a distress signal, whereupon the air traffic controller dialed 911.
The pilot of partner flight, which landed safety at New Braunfels, had initially reported that he hadn't heard from the other pilot.
