2025–26 1. FC Kaiserslautern season

The 2025–26 season was the 126th season in the history of 1. FC Kaiserslautern and the fourth consecutive season in the 2. Bundesliga. In addition to the domestic league, the club participated in the DFB-Pokal.

Summary

Under head coach Torsten Lieberknecht, 1. FC Kaiserslautern entered the 2025–26 season—their fourth consecutive campaign in the 2. Bundesliga. The summer transfer window saw a significant squad restructuring, highlighted by the departure of star striker Ragnar Ache to 1. FC Köln for €4.1 million and midfielder Filip Kaloč to Ludogorets Razgrad. To reinforce the squad, the club invested in new attacking options, bringing in Ivan Prtajin from Union Berlin, Naatan Skyttä from USL Dunkerque, and Mahir Emreli.

In the 2. Bundesliga, Kaiserslautern experienced a highly competitive campaign. After a mixed start to the season, the team found consistency and remained in the upper half of the table for the majority of the year. The club ultimately finished in 6th place, accumulating 52 points with a record of 16 wins, 4 draws, and 14 losses. Ivan Prtajin proved to be a successful signing, finishing as the club's top scorer with 11 goals across all competitions.

In the DFB-Pokal, Kaiserslautern started strong with a resounding 7–0 victory over RSV Eintracht 1949 in the first round, followed by a narrow 1–0 away win against Greuther Fürth in the second round. However, their cup run came to an abrupt end in the Round of 16 on 2 December 2025, where they suffered a heavy 6–1 defeat to Hertha BSC at the Olympiastadion in Berlin.
