GAFT Cup

Sporting Praia alongside Boavista and Desportivo of the same city were its first three particicipants from the south of the island into the second edition of GAFT Cup, a municipal tournament for Tarrafal. Sporting advanced up to the semis and finished there after a penalty shootout loss to Desportivo Praia as the match ended in a draw.

The club started off the season being first place up to the second round, they though they attempt to continue their astonishing unbeaten streak even away, that finally came to an end as Sporting suffered another loss in four Premier Division matches to rival Académica Praia with the result 3-2, which ended their unbeaten streak away totaling 24 matches in the First/Premier Division. Also their recent loss dropped their position to fourth and remains as of the sixth round. Two straight scoreless draws Sporting had, first to Boavista, then to Desportivo. Sporting had eight points, shared with Bairro (ADESBA), Sporting has eight goals, two more than ADESBA. Two straight wins came for Sporting Praia, first to Eugénio Lima, then to ADESBA with the same result 4-0 and now has 14 points and 15 goals scored, the region's highest but remains fourth.

Sporting Praia will appear at the upcoming national championships for the 2018 season. No word that Sporting Praia will appear in the qualification stage of the 2018 CAF Champions League.

Santiago South Cup

Sporting defeated Desportivo 2-1 in the first round on December 13 and will appear at the second round against Benfica on January 17.
