The Knockout stages of the 2013 SAFF Championship featured host Nepal and defending champions India from group A, along with favorites Maldives, and last tournaments runners up Afghanistan, from group B. Afghanistan beat Nepal 1-0 on a goal in the 11th minute from Sandjar Ahmadi. India despite poor form also won 1-0 against Maldives with Arnab Mondal's goal coming 4 minutes from time to reach the final. Afghanistan won championship with goals from Ahmadi and Azadzoy.
