2008 Connecticut Defenders season

The Connecticut Defenders season is the 14th season for the franchise in Norwich, Connecticut, and the 29th overall in the Eastern League. The team looks to improve upon its 63-78 record in 2007, and make the postseason for the first time since 2002.

Player and personnel moves

  • January 10 - The Defenders announced Bien Figueroa will be the team's manager for the 2008 season.
  • March 11 - San Francisco Giants optioned RHP Kelvin Pichardo to Double-A Connecticut.

Spring training

The Connecticut Defenders and Fresno Grizzlies played 15 exhibition games against AA and AAA affiliates of teams including the Oakland Athletics, Texas Rangers, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, and Chicago Cubs between March 12 and March 29.
