Software Distributor (SD) is the Hewlett-Packard company's name for their HP-UX software package management system.
SD provides a set of tools for creating packages that will install software on a system running the HP-UX operating system. The packages can be grouped together into a software repository called a depot, and a server can be configured to host multiple depots for installation of software packages and even entire systems.
SD was first available with release 10.0 of HP-UX in 1995. Since then it has undergone several enhancements and bug fixes, and now provides a reliable software installation tool. It uses a client-server arrangement to distribute software using a background daemon called swagentd. A software distributor provides its customers with the ability to purchase software licenses from multiple sources. This agent is started at boot time, and communicates using either the TCP or UDP protocols through RPC. The SD packages are normally stored and transmitted in compressed form, using either the gzip or compress programs.
Personal infrastructure comprises the fundamental tools, services, and systems serving an individual that are necessary for their daily function. For example, if a person has established a strong personal infrastructure by acquiring a cell phone, they would be able to make long-distance calls. A person who has learned how to drive and obtained a driver license would be able to use this skill to commute more effectively to work.
Some aspects of personal infrastructure can take years to build up, such as education, programming skills and management skills. On the other hand, some aspects of personal infrastructure will take a comparatively shorter amount of time. For example, a cell phone can be bought quickly.
To a certain extent, a home is also an aspect of personal infrastructure. Homeless people cannot perform many daily functions due to lack of a strong and solid personal infrastructure. For example, a home with a washing machine would be easier than a home that has no washing machine. But both are easier than the tasks a homeless person faces.
Eric Van Den Brink is a Dutch musician and record producer. He has released albums of his own work and is producer of a wide variety of collaborations under the pseudonym (and anagram) of Nick Vernier Band. Featured collaborators include Blondie Chaplin, Probyn Gregory, Gerry Beckley (with Jeffrey Foskett), Paul Jones, David Bullock, Matt Malley, Iain Matthews, Emitt Rhodes, Duncan Maitland, Pizza Delivery Boys, Shandon Sahm, Janaki, and Iason Chronis, among others. Van Den Brink is also producer of the 2024 Mixes of The Best of Shocking Blue (Venus, Love Buzz, etc.), and Nick Vernier Band-Mixes for Yoko Ono Plastic Ono Band.
Side projects include those with Cosmo Police (with Atsuko Kurokawa), Yuan Moons, Factory Men and Mettensee Quartet. Previous associations include activities as A&R-man and recording engineer for recordings with Jan Akkerman, Rob Bolland, David Vermeulen, Colin Blunstone, Ian Gillan, and Herman Brood with [...] Dale, Hans Dulfer, Candy Dulfer, Jules Deelder, Nina Hagen, and Trijntje Oosterhuis. More current related productions include Style Detectives, the first new Monkees-related release in over a decade (produced under license from Rhino Entertainment, featuring vocal samples from the band), and Willem De Ridder. As an actor, Van Den Brink appeared in various TV series on Dutch television (ONM, GTST, Blauw Blauw, and Graffiti).
In addition to Nick Vernier Band's ongoing presence, the duo Eric & Ivory continues to make its mark as a dynamic musical collaboration. The band brings together vocalist/musician Jera Ivory and producer/musician Eric Van Den Brink. Since 2016, their joint creations have been released under both Jera Ivory's name and the Eric & Ivory moniker. Their sound is best described as eclectic, encompassing a wide range of genres - from jazz, rock, and singer-songwriter styles to blues and experimental music.
Nick Vernier Band's Sessions is a collaborative album by an ensemble containing notable musicians, such as Probyn Gregory, Gerry Beckley (with Jeffrey Foskett), Matt Malley, Paul Jones, Iain Matthews, Emitt Rhodes, Pizza Delivery Boys, Janaki, The Monkees , and Iason Chronis, among others. The studio group was initiated by musician and record producer Eric Van Den Brink. The album, officially released on iTunes in April 2010, consists of songs by featured collaborators, as well as original material.
The name "Nick Vernier Band" is an anagram of "Eric Van Den Brink".
